Privacy Policy
Mole World is a multiplayer game published by Pedro Vicente ("we", "us"), based in Toronto, Canada. This policy explains exactly what the game collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the Mole World iOS app and the browser version.
We do not sell your data, we do not show advertising, and we do not embed third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the game.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an account, we store:
- Email address — used to verify your account, reset a forgotten password or username, and confirm account deletion.
- Username — the public name other players see.
- Player ID — an internal identifier that links your account to your progress.
- Password — stored only as a bcrypt hash. We never store, log, or have any way to read your actual password.
- Account creation date.
Gameplay data
So your progress persists across devices, we store:
- Coins, gems found, and items you own
- Clothing you have equipped and the furniture layout of your house
- Minigame high scores and progress
- Your friends list, incoming and outgoing friend requests, and your blocked-players list
Technical and usage data
- IP address — recorded with each connection, used to operate the service and to enforce bans against players who abuse it.
- Connection times — when a session starts and ends.
- In-game activity — which rooms you visit and when, and coarse events such as making a purchase with in-game coins, starting a minigame, or sending a friend request. This is used to understand which parts of the game people actually play.
- Push notification token (iOS only) — if you allow notifications, so we can tell you when a friend comes online. You can revoke this any time in iOS Settings.
Chat messages
Chat is relayed live between players in the same room and is not stored in our database. Messages pass through an automatic filter that masks offensive language before they are delivered. Messages may appear briefly in temporary server operational logs, which are rotated and discarded, and are not searchable or retained as a chat history.
Reports
If you report another player, we record who was reported, who reported them, the room it happened in, and the time — so we can review the account and act on it.
2. What We Do Not Collect
- No real name, phone number, address, or date of birth
- No location or GPS data
- No contacts, photos, camera, or microphone access
- No advertising identifier (IDFA), and no cross-app or cross-site tracking — the app does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not track you
- No payment information — Mole World has no in-app purchases and does not accept real money
3. How We Use Your Information
- To run the game: authenticate you, sync your progress, and place you in rooms with other players
- To let you find and add friends, and to notify you when a friend comes online
- To keep the game safe: filter offensive language, act on reports, and block or ban abusive players
- To send you account emails you asked for — verification codes, password or username recovery, and account deletion confirmation
- To understand aggregate usage so we can improve the game
We do not use your information for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
4. Who We Share It With
We share data only with the service providers needed to operate the game, and only what each one needs:
- DigitalOcean — hosts the game server and its database.
- Resend — sends transactional emails (verification, password reset, deletion codes). Receives your email address and the code.
- Apple Push Notification service — delivers push notifications to iOS devices. Receives your device token and the notification text.
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse or protect the safety of our players.
5. Data Retention
Account and gameplay data is kept for as long as your account exists. Connection logs, room visits, and gameplay events are retained on a rolling basis for operating and improving the game. Reports are retained until they are reviewed and resolved. When you delete your account, your account record, gameplay data, friends and blocked lists, and push token are deleted from our database.
6. Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account from inside the app at any time — you do not need to email us or wait for us to act.
- Open Mole World and go to the login screen.
- Tap the red trash-can icon.
- Enter your account email and password.
- We email you a confirmation code; enter it to confirm.
- Your account and its data are deleted.
Deletion is permanent. Your coins, items, house, high scores, and friends cannot be restored afterwards. If you cannot access the app, email [email protected] and we will delete the account for you.
7. Your Rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Give you a copy of it
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your account and data
Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority — in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
8. Security
Traffic between the game and our servers is encrypted in transit using TLS. Passwords are stored using bcrypt hashing and are never kept in plain text. Access to the game server and database is restricted to the operator. We deliberately keep the amount of personal data we hold small, which is the most effective protection we can offer.
No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected players and the relevant authorities as required by law.
9. Children
Mole World includes live chat with other players and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
10. International Transfers
Our servers and service providers are located in the United States and Canada. If you play from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in those countries.
11. Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes we will also notify players in the game.
